Pagal Baba Temple is a special and beautiful temple in Vrindavan, just 8 km away from Mathura on Mathura Vrindavan marg. This temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. It was built in 1969, and the idols were placed in 1981. The temple is 221 feet tall, with 9 floors and a width of 150 feet, all made of white marble in the Nagara style of temple architecture. Each floor of the temple has something different to see, and from the top floor, you can enjoy a lovely view of Vrindavan.
Shri Leelanad Thakur, also known as “Pagal Baba,” constructed this temple out of his deep devotion to Lord Krishna. People started calling him “Pagal Baba” because of his great love for Lord Krishna. One side of the temple houses the tomb of Pagal Baba. The temple is also famous for its puppet show exhibition on the ground floor, where stories from the Indian epics Mahabharat and Ramayana are performed.

History of Pagal Baba Temple
there was a poor Brahmin who loved Lord Banke Bihari deeply. He had borrowed some money from wealthy moneylender and was paying it back little by little every month. When it was time for the last payment, The Moneylender sent him a court notice claiming that the Brahmin hadn’t repaid the full amount and demanded the entire sum with interest.
Feeling distressed, the Brahmin tried to explain to the Moneylender, but the rich man refused to listen, leading the matter to court. In court, the Brahmin insisted that he had paid back all the money, and the moneylender was lying. When asked for a witness to support his claim, the Brahmin After thinking for a bit, the Brahmin said, “Lord Banke Bihari will be my witness.”
The court requested the address of this witness, and the Brahmin mentioned the Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan. A summons was sent to the temple, and the Brahmin placed it before the idol, asking for Lord Banke Bihari’s presence in court to testify.
On the day of the hearing, an elderly man appeared before the judge, confirming that he had witnessed the loan repayment to the moneylender. The judge examined moneylender records and discovered the truth – the money had been repaid, and the moneylender had falsely accused the Brahmin.
The judge declared the Brahmin innocent, leaving Mahajan bewildered. The judge declared the Brahmin innocent and freed him. Everyone was curious about the old man’s identity. The judge, deeply moved, asked Brahmin, “Who was this man who testified for you?” Brahmin answered, “Oh Judge Sir, that was my Thakur, Banke Bihari ji. He could not bear to see his devotee in trouble and came to help.”
The judge was so inspired by this miracle that he left his job and home to search for Banke Bihari ji. He traveled for many years, living a simple and spiritual life. After many years of searching, he reached Vrindavan. In Vrindavan, the judge kept looking for Thakur Ji, asking everyone about him. People started calling him “Pagal Baba,” which means “Mad Baba” because of his deep devotion.
Today, the Pagal Baba Mandir stands in Vrindavan, reminding everyone of this amazing story. People come from far and wide to visit the temple, seeking blessings and comfort. They are inspired by the story of Brahmin and the divine help he received from Banke Bihari. The temple is a symbol of faith, honesty, and the miracles that can happen when you truly believe.
