About Birla mandir

Birla Mandir, also known as Gita Mandir, is located on Mathura-Vrindavan Road and is a must-visit for anyone exploring the holy cities of Mathura and Vrindavan. Dedicated to Lord Krishna and Radha, this beautiful temple stands out for its intricate carvings, captivating paintings, and a unique feature: the entire Bhagavad Gita is inscribed on its walls. History of Birla Mandir, Mathura

The Birla Mandir in Mathura was built by Shri Jugal Kishore Birla, a well-known industrialist and philanthropist, in memory of his parents. Shri Jugal Kishore Birla was a member of the renowned Birla family, known for their contributions to various religious and social causes.

The architecture of Birla Mandir is a striking example of artistry, crafted from red sandstone and white marble. The temple’s main sanctum is dedicated to Radha Krishna, while other sanctums within the temple honor Lakshmi Narayan and Ram-Sita. A small shrine devoted to Lord Hanuman can also be found here. Near the main sanctum, you’ll find Garuda, the vehicle of Lord Vishnu, shown with hands folded in respect.

The Gita Stambh is one of the temple’s main attractions, standing 18 meters high with 700 verses of the Bhagavad Gita engraved in Sanskrit, Hindi, and English. This tower also features symbols of all major world religions, showcasing the universal teachings of the Gita.

The temple complex includes a peaceful garden, and a planetarium, allowing visitors to dive deeper into the culture and spiritual history of Mathura and Vrindavan.
