Vrinda Kund, Nandgaon
About Vrinda Kund
Vrinda Kunda is a special place in Vrindavan, where Srimati Vrinda Devi is believed to plan the daily activities of Radha and Krishna. During Krishna’s time on earth, Vrinda Devi lived here and arranged secret meetings between Radha and Krishna in the forests, especially in places like Sanket. Sometimes, she would ask for guidance from Yogamaya Purnima-devi and use clever tricks to bring Radha and Krishna together.
The kund at Vrinda Kunda is where Vrinda Devi used to bathe. She is always beautifully dressed, adorned with many ornaments, and carries a yellow parrot on her left hand. The parrot flies around Vrindavan, observing everything, and reports back to Vrinda Devi. It’s said that no one can enter Radha and Krishna’s pastimes without the blessings of Vrinda Devi. Tulsiji, the sacred plant, is considered the earthly form of Vrinda Devi, and Krishna does not accept any offering without tulsi leaves.
There is also an ancient stone deity of Radha and Krishna at Vrinda Kund, believed to have been established by Vajranabha, Krishna’s great-grandson. Although this deity was desecrated during Muslim invasions, the local villagers continue to honor it by pouring milk over the deity every Monday.
