About Tatiya sthan

Tatiya sthan is the meditation spot of Swami Lalit Kishori Ji, the seventh leader in the Haridasi tradition. It is the home of the deities, Shri Radhika Mohini Bihari Ji. Although not many people know about this place, it is closely connected to the Swami Haridas (he Discovered the deity of banke bihari ji). Here, saints and monks give up their regular lives to focus on praying and meditating on Lord Krishna. Tatiya sthan is special because it blends perfectly with nature.

Even though it is in a busy town, Tatiya sthan is not affected by technology. Instead of electric lights, they light lamps after the sun goes down. You won’t find fans or light bulbs here. The beauty of this place makes visitors feel like they are going back in time to when people lived more naturally. During the Aarti, Bihari Ji’s fan is moved by hand with a rope, just like it was in ancient times.

The sand at Tatiya sthan reminds people of when the Yamuna River flowed nearby. The peaceful atmosphere helps people remember the close connection humans once had with nature.

Tatiya sthan history

Tatiya sthan is closely tied to the Swami Haridas sect. Swami Haridas Ji, the first Acharya of the sect, was a devoted follower of Banke Bihari Ji. Over time, eight Acharyas have led the Haridas tradition: Swami Haridas Ji, Swami Vitthal Vipul Dev Ji, Swami Biharini Dev Ji, Swami Saras Dev Ji, Swami Narhari Dev Ji, Swami Rasik Dev Ji, Swami Lalit Kishori Dev Ji, and finally, Swami Lalit Mohini Dev Ji.

Swami Lalit Kishori Ji, the seventh Acharya, is believed to have lived between 1758 and 1823. Detached from all material desires, he chose the peepal tree at Tatiya Sthan as his place of sadhana sthali.

At that time, Vrindavan was mostly a forest. Swami Lalit Kishori Ji’s disciples, Choube Ji Gokulchand and Shyam Ji Choube, were worried about his safety from wild animals. To protect him, they built a fence around the area with bamboo sticks. In the local language, these sticks are called “Tatiya,” and that’s how the place got its name.

Today, Tatiya Sthan is a peaceful place where people can experience the spiritual practices of the Haridasi tradition and feel the harmony between divinity and nature.
