About Jaipur Temple

The Jaipur Temple in Vrindavan, built in 1917 by Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh Ji of Jaipur, is a well-known temple dedicated to Radha and Krishna. The Maharaja built it to honor his spiritual teacher, Brahmachari Shri Giridhari Sharan Ji. It is the biggest temple in Vrindavan based on land area and is located on the main road near Atalla Chungi, surrounded by green trees.

The construction took around forty years, with many skilled workers and craftsmen working hard to finish it. The temple combines Mughal and Rajasthani architecture, with large pillars carved from single rocks holding up the roof. The marble designs on the altar look similar to the style seen during the Mughal period. The stone used in the temple is the same type used in Rashtrapati Bhavan, and the Maharaja even paid to build a railway line between Vrindavan and Mathura to carry the heavy stones needed for construction.

Inside the temple, there are three main sanctuaries reached through grand gates. The northern sanctuary is dedicated to Shri Anand Bihari Ji, the central one to Shri Radha Madhav Ji, and the southern one to Hans Gopala. These deities were placed in the temple when it was completed in 1917.

Today, the Government of Rajasthan manages the temple, which remains a beautiful and important spiritual place in Vrindavan.
