About Seva Kunj, Vrindavan

Seva Kunj in Vrindavan is a very special and sacred place. It used to be called Nikunjavan, one of the twelve small forests in Vrindavan. This is where Lord Krishna is believed to serve his beloved Radha Rani, showing his deep love and care for her.

In the middle of Seva Kunj, there is the Nikunj Temple. Instead of regular idols, you can see a beautiful scene of Lord Krishna massaging Radha Rani’s feet. Her close friends, Lalita and Vishakha, are also there, attending to the divine couple.

Nearby, you will find the ancient Lalita Kund, a holy pond that adds to the peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. Inside the temple, everything is decorated with items that the divine couple might need, as it is believed that Krishna and Radha visit this place every night.

Seva Kunj Vrindavan History

paining inside seva kunj temple

Seva Kunj in Vrindavan is a very special garden where it is believed that Radha and Krishna come every night to perform Their eternal pastimes, or lila. Each evening at sunset, everyone must leave the grove, and after the evening aarti, the temple gates are locked. No one is allowed to enter after that. Even the monkeys that are usually there during the day leave the garden at night.

It is said that in this garden, Krishna would lovingly massage Radha Rani’s feet and decorate Her hair with flowers. The trees here are not ordinary trees. They are believed to be great sages, who, in the form of trees, bend their branches toward the ground to touch the feet of Radha and Krishna.

Seva Kunj is filled with a strong spiritual energy because it is where Radha and Krishna’s most intimate and loving pastimes take place. There is also a small pond called Lalita Kund, which Krishna created by pushing His flute into the ground to provide water for His dear friend, Lalita Sakhi. This pond is still there today in the center of the garden.
