About Chintaharan Mahadev

chintaharan mahadev temple inside

The Chintaharan Mahadev Temple is located on the banks of the Yamuna River in Gokul, Mathura. The story of Chintaharan Mahadev is connected to a famous incident from Lord Krishna’s childhood. One day, while little Krishna was playing with His friends, they hurried to Mother Yashoda, saying, “Krishna has eaten dirt!” Worried, Yashoda gently scolded Him, asking why He would eat dirt when there were so many sweets at home. Smiling innocently, Krishna denied it, saying, “They are lying, Mother.” Still doubtful, Yashoda told Him to open His mouth. To her surprise, she saw the entire universe inside—stars, planets, and even herself! Shocked, Yashoda began to wonder if Krishna was really her son or maybe a god or a demon in disguise.

Feeling confused and anxious, Yashoda prayed to Lord Shiva for help. In answer to her prayer, Lord Shiva took away her worries and remained there as Chintaharan Mahadev, ChintaHaran means The remover of worries.

It is said that anyone who prays to Lord Chintaharan Mahadev with faith will have their worries taken away.
